Ingredients
  

Dough

  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp active dry yeast
  • ¾ cup warm milk
  • ¼ cup water
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 egg

Instructions
 

  • Activate the yeast – Combine warm milk, water, and sugar in a bowl. Stir in yeast and let it foam for 5–10 minutes.
  • Make the dough – Mix flour, salt, butter, and egg with the yeast mixture. Knead until smooth.
  • First rise – Cover and let the dough rise for about 90 minutes until doubled in size.
  • Shape the buns – Divide the dough into equal portions, shape into buns, and place them on a baking sheet.
  • Second rise – Let the shaped buns rise again for 30 minutes.
  • Bake – Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Cool and enjoy – Let the buns cool before slicing and serving.

Notes

For an even softer crust, brush the baked buns with melted butter right after removing them from the oven.
