Juicy Grilled Lemon Garlic Asparagus

Bright, tender, and full of fresh flavor, this Grilled Lemon Garlic Asparagus is quick to make and pairs perfectly with any main dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound asparagus, ends trimmed
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 lemon (zest and 2 tablespoons juice), plus extra wedges for serving
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt (or to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Optional: 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • Optional finish: 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan or dairy-free Parmesan
  • Optional garnish: chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (about 400–450°F / 205–230°C). Clean and oil the grates.
  2. Rinse asparagus and pat dry. Trim woody ends by snapping or cutting 1–2 inches from the base.
  3. Mix in a bowl the olive oil, minced garlic, lemon zest, lemon juice, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using).
  4. Toss asparagus with the lemon-garlic oil until evenly coated. Let sit for 5–10 minutes while the grill heats.
  5. Place asparagus across the grates (or use a grill basket/foil). Keep spears in a single layer.
  6. Grill for 5–7 minutes total, turning once halfway. Cook until crisp-tender with light char. Thick spears may need 1–2 more minutes.
  7. Transfer to a platter. Squeeze extra lemon over the top, sprinkle with Parmesan and parsley if using, and serve warm.

Notes

Cool leftovers within 30 minutes and store in an airtight container up to 3 days in the fridge.
