  • 1 cup diced tomatoes (drained)
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil (chopped)
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 cup warm water (110°F or 43°C)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  1. Dissolve sugar and yeast in warm water. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Combine flour and salt in a large bowl. Add yeast mixture and olive oil, mixing until a dough forms.
  3. Fold in diced tomatoes and basil until well incorporated.
  4. Turn dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  5. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  7. Punch down dough and shape into a loaf. Place in a greased loaf pan.
  8. Let it rise for another 30 minutes, then bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Let cool slightly before slicing and serving.
